I decided I would be "Grammy." My husband chose the traditional Grandpa but it has morphed into "Wampa." It seems to be sticking.
– CrystalBeachMom I'm a fan of the Chicago Cubs, hence I'm known as Grandpa Cubbie. – cubby2 |

Wow! I was not aware that there were so many names for me!
P.P.S. Other relative caregivers are welcome, too. As are former and soon-to-be such caregivers.
P.S. ... Continuing from the post below... On a more serious note, I know there are hundreds of GPs (grandparents) today who have custody of their GC (grandchildren) and deal with the problem of those children wanting to call them "Mom and Dad" or "Mommy and Daddy," etc. This is just one of the topics that often comes up in Grandparents Caring for Grandkids, GP.com's support group for frequent and fulltime GP caregivers. Of course, we talk about more lighthearted subjects, too. But if you're raising your GC, helping to raise them or watching them several days a week and/or for long hours, please do come over and join us! It's a great place, I believe, to vent, brag, ask questions or just share caregiving ideas and experiences - all w/o fear of backlash or harsh judgment! Hey, our group motto is that old saying, "Walk a mile in my shoes." :- )
And we're not hard to find. Just scroll to the very top of this page (to the line ABOVE the one with the website title) and Click on the word Community. Then click on Grandparenting and you'll see us! So c'mon over! :- )
Never knew how many different names there were for grandfathers, trendy or otherwise, till I was on GP.com! Nor for grandmothers, either! Delightful!
