Super Ship No. 8: Carnival Dream

A water park and a poolside movie on a giant screen, kids can't ask for anything more

By Ludmilla Alexander

Carnival Dream is Carnival Cruise Lines' newest "Fun Ship" designed to please the entire family. It made its debut in September 2009, and the ship is spending the winter sailing from Port Canaveral, Fla., to the Caribbean. If the four-deck-high corkscrew water slide in the most elaborate water park at sea doesn’t impress the grandkids, then the 12-by-22-foot poolside movie screen will. Supervised programs are tailored for three different age groups.

Cruising Tips

Before you sign up for a cruise, make sure that the children's programs you are interested in are offered on that itinerary.

Consider bringing walkie-talkies (and plenty of extra batteries) to keep in touch with your grandkids during the day.

Don't forget to tip the youth counselors who help entertain your grandchildren aboard ship.
