Greta is starting to be so much fun to be around. She reacts to our faces, smiles, even laughs a little. Of course, silly old Grandma can always get a big smile out of her. My daughter thinks it's because I do a lot of theater when I can and I'm used to being very expressive.......That sounds better than "It's because you're funny looking!" Ha! I can't believe she's already 10 weeks old!. We have a "standing date" every Saturday night. The kids come over and we have supper and play Scrabble or cards. Naturally it's my favorite night of the week! I absolutely love to watch my husband hold Greta and look at her. The look on his face is just priceless! I wouldn't trade being a Grandma for all the world!
Turns out the cord was wrapped around Greta's neck twice and she showed signs of distress very early during labor. Of course none of us knew that until it was all over! We all just thank God that she's doing fine and so is her Mama (and Daddy of course!).
Our first grandbaby was born about two and a half hours ago. We just got home from the hospital and are too excited to go to bed! Our daughter checked in last night around 8 o'clock and was induced. They finally did a c-section tonight and the baby was born about 8. She weighs 8 lbs 10 1/2 oz and is, of course, the most beautiful thing I have seen in my life. Her parents want to spend the night with her before making a final decision on her name. I think that's kind of neat......draws the excitement out a little longer!
