Back in the day, those photo machines in the mall were a quarter. Now, the strip of four photos costs three dollars! If you get them taken with your grandchild it's worth it.
A few days ago, I bought a nice lamp at Kirkland's for my bedroom dresser. It also had a nice price ($19.99). I liked it so much I had to go back and get another one, before the sale ended.
The mall is a hop skip and a jump from Montessori, so after picking Kenz up and listening to two songs in my car from her new High School Musical 2 CD, we bopped into the mall to complete the lamp set.
Even with the sniffles, my five-year old granddaughter was in a good mood. Plus, she wanted to hold my hand and I love it when she wants to hold my hand.
First thing we did was head over to the smoothie counter to order a Blueberry Blitz (or something like that). Splitting a regular works perfect for us. I tell them to leave out the sherbert and add a little extra yogurt. This helps it to not taste like a sugar ball.
Today as we slurped and walked, Kenz spotted the bright blue photo box, suddenly excited about getting some pictures. Only on two other ocassions (that I remember) have me and her used the cramped camera box. Otherwise,we have walked by hundreds of times without noticing them.
Did you know they take credit cards? Or, they are supposed to. I tried to slip my Visa in the slot. No luck. We ran to get change, then ran back. (She didn't want anyone to get our place.) Kenz put in the dollars. It sucked them up like straw and a recorded voice came out of a speaker telling us to select a background. We decided on Love, pressed the button and the countdown began.
"OK Nana, do this." Kenz had two fingers over my head in the peace sign or the devil sign, I'm not sure what she thinks it is.
Snap.
"Next time, stick out your tongue Nana."
Snap.
"Too late Nana, you missed it."
"OK for three, stick it out . "
Snap.
"For four Nana, quick,do the I love you sign."
"The what sign, Kenz?"
"The I love you sign. I can't show you now cuz..." Snap.
I think I got one finger right. I didn't know she knew an I love you sign. (She is practicing in the third picture.)
Can you imagine all the fun we had for just three dollars? And not to mention--- my learning experience.
We got two strips of pics. Kenz tells me they're Valentine's presents for Mommy and Daba
"It's a little early for Valentines Day."
"That's OK., Nana, We'll come back and get them gift certificates too."
(Personally, I think they'll like the pictures better.)
