You could make just one robot with the materials listed here, but they're so easy to create, why not do a few? Use your imagination to turn everyday boxes and some simple craft supplies into a collection of space-age friends.
Choose the size of your box based on how big a robot the kids would like to create. Individual raisin boxes are perfect for baby robots; pudding boxes or individual cereal boxes are perfect for kid-size robots; and microwave popcorn, pasta, or cereal boxes are great for robot parents and, of course, grandparents.
Materials:
Small boxes
Aluminum foil
Colored duct tape (optional)
Scissors
Markers
Buttons, thread spools, and other small household items (optional)
Craft or tacky gllue
Googly eyes
Skewer
Pipe cleaners
Directions:
1. Cover boxes completely with foil. Keep foil as wrinkle-free as possible.
2. Cut duct tape into shapes or strips and place on boxes where desired. Add to your creation with markers, buttons, and other household items.
3. Glue on googly eyes. Kids can add an extra eye or two, or only use one, to create a robot monster.
4. For arms and legs, poke holes in foil-covered box with skewer. Twist skewer to make holes slightly bigger and fit pipe cleaners in holes, cutting pipe cleaners in half if necessary.
