Don't Babysit Without This Emergency Info

This must-have information could save a grandchild's life

by Gary Drevitch
Post to: Facebook Twitter Yahoo! Buzz

When you babysit for your grandchildren, whether it's the first time or the hundredth time, there are some things you expect to be provided, such as food for the kids' dinner; breast milk, formula or milk; and diapers and wipes. You wouldn't let parents leave home, or leave the children at your house, until you had these things. Emergency contact information is just as important. No parent should ever leave their children with a grandparent, or any other sitter, without providing all the following information in an easy-to-locate spot near a telephone. Make sure your grandchildren's parents have it waiting for you before your next babysitting visit, and ask them to make an extra copy that you can keep in your home for when the kids are dropped off with you. On yours, you'll need to alter some of the emergency contact information depending on which friends and relatives live closest to you.
