• Take a close, realistic look at your current finances and re-budget where necessary. Do you really need those lattes and DVD subscriptions? Do you really need all that insurance?
• Increase your income. Go back to work, take a second job, sell stuff on eBay and Craigslist. Offer your services and become a consultant in your areas of expertise. Don't be ashamed to take advantage of public benefits. You paid into them with your hard-earned dollars; now it's your turn to get what you need.
• Stretch your income by seeking out senior discounts. They're abundant and they're out there.
• Rely on family and friends for emotional and financial support. That's what they're there for!
