There are many millions of great grandparents in America, and we at Grandparents.com recognize their contributions to their families, on Grandparents Day and every day. But there are a few whose dedication truly stands out. They are the nine winners of our 2011 Extraordinary Grandparents contest, and we're honored to introduce them to you.
Nominated by their friends, children, and, in one case, an ex-husband, these ordinary people have made extraordinary contributions to the lives of children, from their own grandkids to foster kids to classrooms full of total strangers. As we celebrate Grandparents Day, we're very pleased to be able to share their inspiring stories of love and sacrifice with you.
