Aesop's Fables

Now that your grandchildren have entered the age of reason (we hope!), it's time to introduce them to this timeless group of morality-building stories. There are many wonderfully illustrated gift editions of Aesop. Two of the best are John Cech's brand-new minimalist adaptation of 36 both well-known and obscure tales, illustrated by Martin Jarrie; and Michael Morpurgo's lavish 2005 version, illustrated by Emma Chichester Clark. Whichever edition you choose, reading Aesop together is a terrific way to start meaningful conversations with grandkids.
