The Food Chain Friends, hailing from the make-believe planet Daro, are indeed very friendly, but they also eat one another. It's "a complicated relationship," they admit, though it seems simple to us. The curious creatures stagger in size, so the smaller friends fit into the bigger friends' mouths, thus balancing Daro's ecosystem. Aside from just being fun to play with, Food Chain Friends might teach your grandchildren the facts of wildlife in a less-scary way than those nature documentaries they're not watching yet.
