IMAX Theater — Fernbank Museum
767 Clifton Road, NE
Atlanta, GA 30307

It's easy to live larger than life if you take the grandchildren to one of two IMAX Theater locations in Atlanta. The screen at the Fernbank Museum is five stories high and 72 feet wide, allowing you to see mountain vistas and underwater grottoes with intense detail. Tickets for hot shows (usually corresponding to exhibits in the museum) go fast, so you need to show up early or reserve tickets beforehand. The Mall of Georgia IMAX shows specially-formatted Hollywood releases in addition to the usual gorgeous documentaries, so if your grandchildren aren't into rainforest ecosystems or polar treks, you can entice them to a blockbuster showing.

Info: Adults $11, seniors 55 and older $10, children 16 and younger $9

Hours: Show times vary

Age: Elementary (5-9), Tween (9-12), Teen (12+)
