Located at University Circle, the Cleveland Children's Museum, founded in 1981, is a fun and interactive play and learning center, designed for children ages 12 months to eight years. Permanent exhibits include Splish Splash, which is all about water, bridges, and weather; Bridges to Community, where kids can buy pretend groceries, open a pretend bank account, and pump their own gas; and the Big Red Barn, where the littlest ones can play in a simulated barn, silo and farmyard.

The Cleveland Museum of Art, located in the city's University Circle neighborhood, is one of the nation's most important art museums. Established in 1913, the museum houses over 40,000 objects. Highlights of the collection include the medieval armor court, the Asian art collection, and the Pre-Columbian art collection. The museum is currently undergoing a $258 million renovation project, which will expand the museum's gallery space by 50 percent and add new visitor facilities.

Opened in 1920, this diverse museum is a kid's favorite. The two-story museum, at Cleveland's University Circle, contains over four million items — everything from fossils to dinosaur skeletons. A large section is devoted to Ohio's natural history, including rocks, gemstones, and information on the Native American tribes that once called the state home.The adjacent Shafran Planetarium features repeating 35-minute presentations throughout the day, on topics such as the current Cleveland night sky.

Located on the lower level of the Western Reserve Historical Society, this fascinating collection of vintage automobiles and airplanes was once the private collection of Cleveland businessman Frederick Crawford of Thompson Products, later to become TRW, Inc. The museum opened in 1963 and includes over 200 vehicles, 80 of which are early Ohio-made automobiles, as well as an early Ford Model-T, a pre-production DeLorean, and Bobby Rahal's 1982 Indy 500 car.

The Dunham Tavern, located just east of downtown Cleveland on Euclid Avenue, is the oldest structure in the city still at its original location. The white clapboard house, built in 1824, was originally a stagecoach inn, a stop along the route between Chicago and Buffalo. It was also a tavern and a WPA artists' studio. Today, the Dunham Tavern houses a 19th century decorative arts collection and hosts periodic temporary exhibits that illustrate the history of the Western Reserve. The site also includes a typical 19th century garden, a barn, and an education center.

Located at downtown Cleveland's Lake Erie harborfront, the Great Lakes Science Center encourages visitors to learn by doing with over 400 exhibits about computer technology, conservation, anatomy, and the ecology of the Great Lakes. Exhibits include an indoor tornado, Pilot a Blimp, and the Lake Erie Story. An adjacent OMNI-MAX theater hosts films about nature, space, and related subjects.

Hale Farm and Village is a living history museum, located south of Cleveland in Bath, Ohio. The attraction is the site of a 19th century Western Reserve farm settled by Jonathan Hale. Today, the site features a working farm with artisan workshops, including glass-blowing and pottery studios. Hale Farm volunteers stroll the property in period dress and instruct visitors about life in the Ohio Valley during the late 1800s. The farm also features period music, a blacksmith shop, a spinning and weaving workshop, and candlemakers. During the summer, Hale Farm hosts a number of special events, including a Civil War re-enactment, a classic auto show, and "Family Fun Days" each June.

Opened in November 2006, the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage greater Cleveland's newest museum showcases the contribution of Cleveland's Jewish community to the city's growth, arts, and industry. Highlights of the museum include artifacts and memorabilia from Cleveland's earliest Jewish residents, oral histories from notable Cleveland residents, and an exquisite collection of religious art from the Temple Tifereth Israel collection. The Maltz Museum augments its permanent exhibits with a series of changing exhibits, including the recent Cradles of Christianity exhibit, which included one of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and a reconstructed early Christian church.

Located adjacent to the NASA Glenn Research Center near Cleveland Hopkins Airport, the NASA Glenn Visitor's Center features an assortment of exhibits about the U.S. space program, including the Apollo Command Module used on Skylab 3, the space suit worn by Jim Lowell, an authentic moon rock, a microgravity lab, and a tribute to the center's namesake, John Glenn. Due to security concerns, admission is limited to U.S. citizens. All adult visitors must show a passport, driver's license, or state-issued ID.
