The gift of reading lasts a lifetime, and giving your grandchild an early introduction to the library is a huge step in the right direction. Birmingham's Baldwin public library has readings, performances and family movies, in addition to story times for patrons seven and younger. The public libraries in Southfield, Ferndale and Royal Oak all have story times for specific age groups. The main branch of the Detroit public library often has interesting exhibits, often with a local theme or origin, as well as workshops and other programs. Each library offers different programs and your best bet is to choose the closest one and check out their website; if they don’t offer the kind of activity or information that you’re looking for, they can surely tell you who does.
