The first Model T rolled off the production line at Henry Ford's Piquette Avenue factory in 1908. 12,000 cars just like it followed, and the automotive industry has never been the same. Strangely, it was only in 2000 that the site was purchased for preservation and since then the Model T Automotive Heritage Complex has been designated a National Historic Landmark. Bring your grandchildren (and maybe your children) to see what a Model T looks like: this is where the modern car began.
