You and your grandchildren will enjoy this immensely popular and rambunctious annual event at the Douglas County Fair in Lawrence, Kansas. Various classes of cars crash into each other on purpose until all the grinding, banging, and tearing stops all the cars but one winner. All the destruction amazes and delights spectators, and the competitors earn cash prizes if they are successful. The car bodies are pared down to the barest essentials and inspected for safety before the race. Seating at this event sells out every year, so get there early if you don't want to stand for the whole time.
