Outside of Vegas itself, Nevada is probably best known as the home of the nation's only above-ground, in-country nuclear test site. This eerie but important museum commemorates that period in our country's history; it includes displays of authentic protective gear, photos, and films. And there are many volunteers who worked at the test site during the above-ground and below-ground tests who are there to share their stories, making it an oddly personal experience as well. And you and your grandchildren can get earrings shaped like Little Boy and Fat Man, the first nuclear weapons used in wartime. A strange and enlightening visit awaits you.
