The Arboretum of Los Angeles country is open daily in neighboring Arcadia. Historic buildings abound, and events like public picnics and LA Philharmonic outdoor concerts occur monthly. The Arboretum is home to 232 varieties of birds, and thousands of plants whose blooming schedules can be tracked on the website. Grandchildren may leave with a new interest in cacti or flowering trees, and you too will marvel at the diversity and scope of nature’s wonders.
