This great and bizarre historical construction, built entirely out of coral rock by hand, is actually a monument to a love story. After losing the affections of his fiancée, Agnes, Latvian immigrant Edward Leedskalnin moved, carved and sculpted over 1,100 tons of coral rock, using only rudimentary tools, as a tribute to her. No one witnessed him doing it and engineers today are still baffled by how a 5-foot man who weighed only about a hundred pounds could have accomplished it. Your grandchildren will be amazed too, especially when they find out that this site is constantly being compared to the pyramids of Egypt and the Taj Mahal — a veritable wonder of the world in our own backyard.
