With 36 rooms, spanning more than 19,000 square feet, the Belmont Mansion — an Italianate-style villa — was once a summer home for the wealthy and prosperous Acklen family. The estate originally contained an art gallery, conservatories, lavish gardens, an aviary, lake, and zoo; it was considered one of the most elaborate antebellum residences  in the South. Aside from daily tours of the impressive estate, the Belmont Mansion also hosts a children's Victorian tea party on special occasions (see the website's event calendar for dates) — an educational and entertaining program for children ages 6 to 12. Take your grandchildren on a trip to the early 20th century;  they will adore a variety of teas, treats, and activities from that era. Tea parties can also be arranged for private parties by calling the mansion.
