How will you be enjoying the outdoors this summer?

Here's another Question of the Week. How will you be enjoying the outdoors this summer? Playing with your grandkids? Heading to the beach? Learning a sport?

Let's hear from you! Post your reply below. You can make it long or short and there are no wrong answers!

My favorite way to enjoy the outdoors in the summer is at my local swim club, enjoying the pool, spending time with friends, etc. For the last 2 years, I also brought my gd there once or twice a week and this year, sometimes, I'll bring my gs, too. (Can't always take both by myself -- too hard!) Looking forward toplaying with them in the kiddie pool and yeah, even the sandbox -- and to "sharing" them with my friends when I need a break ! :-) Sometimes, hopefully, my daughters ( and their guys?) will join me, too. In fact, I'm getting my season's pass tonight. fredigram

OK...how about this! My hubby qualified for the Senior National Games http://www.nsga.com this year! He throws the javelin and shot put and we're headed to San Francisco to compete! Check out the website...grandparent athletes rock!!

Guess I'll have to get off my tush and do something active too! Ride a bike, go for a swim, take a walk!

Well we are getting a motor home. We had a camper several years ago, and we towed it with our van. We have an opportunity to get this motor home, so hopefully we get to spend some time alone again. We definately will be taking the grandchildren sometimes, but absolutely not every time. We went to great places, Lake Ontario New Hampshire, So. Carolina, it was wonderful, just hanging out and sitting our tush.

When I am at home, I will have the grandchildren and I am hoping to get our pool up this year, other wise, it is off to the river and the natural water falls. And then, before I know it, it will be September and back to school. HaHaHa!!

Have a great time Beth and Good Luck to the hubby. I'll be watching the website, they will post the winners right?? Nana Laura

I live on the water and just steps away from the Sandy beach. I love to take Brady and anyone else down to the sandy beach with pails and snacks for a day of fun. We also love to explore the seawall in front of our house for shells, and sea creatures. Then relax and read a book under the tree. What is better then that?
I love summer.

Hey everybody! Anyone go to the beach and build sand castles with their grandkids? My colleague Mary is writing an article for us on this topic and was hoping to feature a couple of quotes from you guys on your experiences at the beach! If you want to respond to this, use the @Mary sign and she'll come in and see it!

I can't wait til school's out so my grandkiddies and I can spend lots of lazy hours swimming in our lake, fishing and building sandcastles. We also made a list of things that we want to do during the summer and it includes building a lemonade stand and then selling lemonade plus learning to golf. Bring on the summer!! westshores westshore

I am one of the most boring grandmas ever! My favorite outdoor activity in the summer is anything I can do in the shade. The pigment in my skin is gone in several places and it's actually dangerous for me to be in strong sun. Sun screen does not help. I love winter for that reason. We do take our granddaughters to the playground, the zoo, and have picnics but I must stay covered up or under a tree. It gets annoying not joining in as much as I would like, but I'll put up with it to be with my girls.

We are planning a trip to Charleston, SC to visit with relatives and enjoy sightseeing. We usually go in the spring to see the gardens so this time we are just doing something a little different. Next we will head up to Hilton Head to play in the ocean and work on our tans. Our granddaughter really loves these two places and never tires of them.

Gardening, riding my bike, spending time with grandchildren the month of July while they visit me. Going to the beach, some sightseeing. helodolly

Because I am recently unemployed, we have several inexpensive excursions per-planned and pre-paid; from swimming at the local health club (mempership already paid for), trips to the zoo (memberships was a Christmas Gift from Santa) to simply picnics at the park and playing in the backyard on the new swingset. But the main excitement is our annual camping trip to Mid-Michigan - also pre-paid. No matter what Teresa (5-1/2 yrs) and Julius (3 yrs) simply enjoy their time with Grandma and Grandap - but not nearly as much as we do!!!!

We will be playing with our grandkids home. The pool will be opening the end of May and they will all be here (at one time or another. We may be taking a day trip to the beach or maybe two, depends. We enjoy family cook outs all summer long, friends and family mean a lot to us. mommombarr

I hope to have Ava down from Georgia as often as possible. As she and my labradors both love the pool, I expect it will be a wonderful summer for all of us!
