My grandchild is not old enough to begin these fundraising things however I do have one sister that lives near me - she has two children (now only one left in school) but every fundraiser each of her two kids had I got hit for my contribution.

Quite honestly my response prior to my sisters two children would have been: "I always participate as it is for the kids" however, after the double whammy I got with these two I dread the thought of my 1 year old grand daughter growing up to come at me with even more fundraising events. Although my baby girl will certainly get my participation I still dread the thought.

I understand that each different group at the schools need to raise funds but you would think that the school would take over and have either one big fundraiser or lets say a quarterly fundraiser that all students (in these groups) participated in so that all the groups would benefit.
Nine times out of ten the parents of elementary age children sell more of the items of the fundraiser than the children do and for the most part the teens are not near as enthusiastic as the youngsters in these fundraisers.

With 6 grandchildren in school, it would become very expensive to buy from all of them It is even harder when they are in the same school selling the same things. So we sat down with them and told them that we would rather help them pay for things that they would like to do with the school instead. Like uniforms for games, or clubs they join. Money for field trips etc. They were very happy with that. They do however still show us what they are selling just in case Pappy or Granny give in.
