What is the greatest thing about being a grandparent?
I can only say love is the best thing about being a grandparent. It was like having children, until you are one, you never realize what a wonderful blessing grandchildren are. Sometimes I feel guilty feeling that being a grandparent is better than being a parent. The closeness and love my granddaughter and I share is uncomparable, and undiscribable as well.
If you want to get to know me, I would start by telling you...
I am a disabled Vietnam Veteran, who was an educator, until my injuries became to the point of not being able to teach a full day any more. I used to teach for a small community college in Georgia, and still, although less and less due to my health, volunteer at the community center in my county, teaching Math to GED students.
I love music from Alternative to Zydeco. I cut my teeth on Johnny Cash, and Nat Kind Cole, and I learned my philosphy from Bob Dylan, Pete Segar, and Joan Baez. I love everyone from Buffett To Berry, from Miles Davis to Charlie Daniels, from Billie Holiday, to Jimi Hendrix, from Bonnie Raitt, to Buckwheat Zydeco, again, A to Z. Lesser know favorites are Eva Cassidy, Christine Kane, Chris Smither, Andreas Vollenweider, Leon Redbone, and Ruin Rig.
I post on DrPhil message boards with the same s/n giving advice I have learned over the years. I graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and have a degree in Business Management, and Psychology. I live alone, with three cats, as I can no longer walk a dog. Never liked cats, but love them now. I love life, and am thankful for every day I still have life, as it's just one more day I get to spend with that wonderful granddaughter of mine.
