You’ll never really know your grandkids until you walk a mile in their shoes. In this case, however, maybe it’s best to
eat their shoes. Pink Cake Box in Denville, New Jersey, created this glittery shoe cake sculpture with completely edible flowers, hearts, tie-dyed peace signs, and rainbow stripes. It's not only cute, but also big! At 18 inches in length, it feeds about 50 people.

Yes! Amazing and delicious looking cakes!
Most definitely ask parents first before making a selection .. I love Cookie Monster cake!
Looks too good to eat..
Wow! Amazing cakes! And they look delicious, too! But speaking as a grandmother to other grandparents, please don't rush to order or make one of these, unless you're asked by the parents or you ask them and they say "Ok." After all, they may already have decided on a cake or want to choose one themselves. If you don't check with them, IMO, there's too much risk of your lovely "surprise" being interpreted as an effort to steal their parental thunder.
Also, I hate to be a downer, but if you *are* the one doing the cake, please don't forget about any allergies your grandchild(ren) might have, such as to chocolate or mild products (ice cream).
If you're raising your grand(s) on your own, of course, then you can choose any cake you'd like. Granted, though, you might want to check with the birthday boy or girl to see if they have a preference! :- )
And BTW, if you were a member of Grandparents Caring for Grandkids on the old site and you're looking for it here - no worries - just go to the VERY TOP of this page - ABOVE the line with the name of the site - and click on Community - then Grandparenting - and you'll see us! Some of your fellow-members have begun talking to each other already. So come on in! :- )
